Mental Health

launchCairde’s on-going work in the area of health indicated that many issues leading to the exclusion of people living with mental health issues require leadership to emerge from within their communities, in order for these issues to be addressed. This learning resulted in Cairde engaging a broad community based approach targeting wider ethnic minority community members to participate in discussions on mental health. Cairde explored the barriers and pathways of access to mental health services among minority ethnic groups.

The overall aim of the initiative is improve  mental health of ethnic minorities in Ireland with emphasis on access and use mental health services; community based mental health promotion and mental health policy.
