Be Aware, Be Well at ‘Challenging Injustice in Ireland’ conference

Challanging injustice conf1First results of consultations done as a part of Cairde’s Be Aware. Be Well. Migrant mental Health Initiative will be presented during conference ‘Challenging Injustice in Ireland’.  Rebecca Murphy (TCD) & Emilia Marchelewska (Cairde): ‘Be Aware, Be Well’; developing a community driven mental health initiative with Dublin’s African migrant community

In 2014, migrants represent 12% of the population. International evidence suggests migrants’ experience inequitable rates of mental illness in addition to inequitable access to and experience of mental health services. In 2014, Cairde began a migrant mental health initiative. The initiative focuses on firstly identifying salient mental health concerns for the African Community and subsequently developing community mobilised interventions for all migrant groups.

The conference takes place on Saturday 4th October 2014 from 10am until 4.30pm. Registration from 9.30am
