Stigmas are a result of incorrect or lack of knowledge around certain issues. In particular, concerning mental health, stigmas can be the result of a lack of awareness on issues around mental health.  Mental health stigma affects everyone.  According to See Change, “The overall economic cost of mental health problems in Ireland has been estimated at just over 3 billion euro in 2006.”

Stop by Cairde or stay tuned to the Facebook page to find out more about how mental health stigma affects you and for more information on mental health in general.
